A two-day academic conference titled “GI Rendezvous 2016” will be held at C&C Alpha Group’s hotel, Hyatt Amritsar on March 5th and 6th.
Top gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal surgeons from all over the country shall converge for the two-day deliberations that would include lectures and panel discussions.
Dr. Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University, would preside over the conference.
Experts would highlight the medical and surgical aspects of gastrointestinal diseases as well discuss the remedies. Chronic liver disease is one such issue that could be deliberated upon.
The conference would also provide a platform to trainee doctors to interact with the many leading practitioners, who would be sharing their views and corroborate them with the evidence available globally.
The meeting also includes a post graduate programme on the preceding day at Fortis Hospital, Amritsar.
In Punjab, liver-related problems are increasing due to unhealthy lifestyles and substance abuse as well as infections like Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, which are preventable and easily treated.
The focus was also on treatment of diabetes and other metabolic diseases through bariatric surger which may be a boon for the local populace and is already being done at Fortis Hospital.
Organizers said over 300 doctors have registered themselves to attend the conference.
Aside from Dr. Raj Bahadur, the other prominent doctors attending include Dr. Hardas Singh, Dr. Balwant Singh Tung, Dr. Girgila, Dr. Kirpal Kaur and Dr. Daljit Singh.
